Myland Parish Council
Myland is situated in Colchester, Essex. Myland (often called Mile End), is to the north of Colchester and is bounded by the London to Norwich railway to the south, the A12 trunk road to the north, Bergholt Road to the west and Highwoods Country Park on the east. (For a more precise description please contact the Parish Office).
The Parish Council, founded in 1999, has 17 councillors and employs a full-time clerk and a part-time Street Officer.
Our office is at 101 Nayland Road, Colchester, C04 5EN, telephone 01206 853400.
The office is open to the public Monday - Friday between 9am and 1pm.
Myland is home to North Station, which links Colchester with London, Chelmsford, Ipswich and Norwich. Colchester District Hospital, The Oaks Private Hospital and Colchester Rugby Club are also in Myland. The Asda supermarket is to the south and at the moment in the north of the parish, Colchester Community Stadium is being constructed.
Myland has seen unprecedented growth in housing in the last 8 years, and a growth in population from about 6,000 in 2000 to over 10,000 in 2008. The next ten years will bring almost as much house building as we have experienced over the last ten.
It is the Parish Council's goal to ensure that Myland gets its share of facilities associated with such huge development.

Cllr Patrick Mills said..
"In 2000/2001 Peter Mecklenburgh and I led the massive compaign for the Myland Community Appraisal, responded to by just over half Myland's households. When all the data had been processed and analysed I wrote the lengthy report."
"Peter Mecklenburgh and I wrote the report exposing the land swap, whereby the Borough Council presided over the reduction of open space in some of Myland's new hopadding: 5px 20px;using developments in order to provide extra land for the Country Park. Nothing wrong in that you may think but in this case the swap was on an acre for acre basis. This meant the developer gained extra building land worth at the time about £750,000 per acre and the Borough gained extra land for the Country Park worth about £2,000 an acre. Some deal! The Parish Council sent a copy of the report to every Borough Councillor and key Borough officials and the practice was stopped."
"I am very pleased to have been working as part of the Streetservices group which has become the champion for helping to improve the general cleanliness of Myland."
"I am particularly pleased with the positive response we have encountered from various stakeholders who have either offered to provide litter bins, or funding towards extra bins for the Myland Parish."
"It is also a very positive step forward to provide a dedicated part-time Streetcare officer for the Myland to help improve the general cleanliness of the area, whilst also reinforcing the message that dropping litter and defacing the area is a very antisocial activity."
"We thank all of those who have been generous enough to contribute to the positive investments in the area. In the future I wish the council to achieve liaison with all Letting agents to ensure we work closely to all private rented landlords, to deliver a welcome pack to all new residents in private and RSL housing, to produce a flexible framework to incorporate all new housing in Myland."
